Q: Delancy D.: How do you keep a straight face when saying such witty things?
A: Wearing black helps a lot!
Q: David L.: What is the biggest mistake that you see new models do the most?
A: Over-think what is being asked, being in a hurry to “get somewhere fast” and not enjoying the journey. Oh, and yeah – thinking that they know everything at the age of 18.
Q: Lindsay L.: Kelly, I admire your straight to the point, no sugar coating honesty! I myself am this way and never understand why i come across as rude. How can we be rude for being 100% honest. My question is do you ever feel you could have said something differently and have you ever regretted how you may have said something in a professional working environment?
A: Of course I have regrets about how I have handled things at times. This is part of learning and growing. An internal censor can be a good thing to install!! Most of the time now, I am choosing my words versus reacting.
Q: Delys E.: How do you grow a backbone that gives you the courage to take crap from no one? I admire that about you.
A: I asked my mother recently if I was always this tough. She said, “no” and in fact, I was the most sensitive of all of her kids. The back bone was installed on the vertebrae over time, compliments of the fashion and entertainment industry!
Q: Amber P.: How did you feel about Azmarie’s attitude in this newest episode? She seemed like she was just beyond doing any of it. How does that kind of attitude get viewed in the fashion industry?
A: I was disappointed in Azmarie last episode. I personally was rooting for her in a big way. I though she would have made it much further in the competition. She has a cool look and is smart. Sadly, she did not want to follow direction or take risks outside of her comfort zone (this is a big part of being a model).
Q: Meghan B.: What are your thoughts on plus size models and the fashion industry for them, or the lack thereof? Do you feel there is there a need for more women designing for plus size women based on plus size standards instead of size 0?
A: Most of the plus size clothing in America is dowdy and strange – not very fashion. Since most women in America are a size 12 or over, this is an obvious payday for designers and models. Truth be told – there are not a lot of designers in fashion who do not want to work with plus size models.
Q: Lisa B.: I personally love that Kelly is so blunt and straight forward. She sees through bs. My question for Kelly, what was your most embarrassing fashion moment?
A: My most embarrassing moment was when I served soft pink petite fours with black icing in c-script that said “Agent Provocateur” for the infamous lingerie line’s US launch. About a half hour into the event, I noticed all of the editors and stylists teeth and lips were stained black from the icing!!
Q: Brittany H.: What advice would you give to someone who wants a career in the fashion industry like the girls on “the city” or “the hills”? Education…best place to study? Especially if you don’t live in NYC or L.A?
A: Move to NYC or LA.
Q: Lori L.: What do you think is most important when presenting yourself to others? Also, do you have any tips for someone wanting to find their own personal style?
A: I think it is most important to be at peace within yourself and to be yourself – this is one answer for both questions.
